Parents/guardians are welcome and encouraged to volunteer in the English classrooms during literacy times. You might be asked to read with one or two children, play literacy games with a group of students, or assist with Word Work (e.g., spelling). For information on how you can be a literacy volunteer in the classroom, please contact Ms. Lera.
Additionally, we welcome parent help in organizing and volunteering for special events. Some of the special events VAIS parents were involved in last year included a Chinese Moon Festival, Fall Harvest Festival, Chinese New Year, and the Stoner Prairie Cultural Bazaar.
The fundraising committee is responsible for organizing school fundraisers and identifying potential grant opportunities. This committee tries to find sensible fundraisers that don't involve, for example, selling wrapping paper or cookie dough. We are always looking for new ideas and new people to join the committee! To find out more about the fundraising committee or to get involved, contact Teresa Mueller.
You can also help support our school through these ongoing fundraisers:

Curriculum and Global Arts Committee
The Curriculum Committee helps VAIS staff select thematic units for the school year, assists in sourcing curriculum materials and makes decisions on curriculum units and materials in connection with staff. The committee also participates in our Global Arts initiative by contributing ideas and helping to design the curriculum. If you're interested in learning more about the Curriculum Committee or contributing your talents, contact Patricia Codde.
