These Badger Ridge/Core Knowledge middle schoolers spend quality time with baby chicks as 8th graders experience "parenting" the chick for their Kids, Fun and Cooking class in the Family and Consumer Science area.

Each year, the 8th graders are responsible for 9 days "parenting" the baby chick. The goals of the project are to apply the knowledge of child development, to take responsibility for a living creature and to understand the importance of good parenting. Students keep a daily journal about the experience along with photos to show growth with their "baby". Students share that this project helps them better understand the great responsibility being a parent creates.
